There are several key global serialization deadlines approaching this year, with some only being months away from being in effect. In December, China will require all imported drug products to be serialized. Additionally, South Korea will require the “essential drug list” products to be serialized and Brazil will require a minimum of three lots from pharmaceutical companies shipping to them to be serialized. 2016 begins with South Korea requiring all drug products serialized by January 1st, 2016 and it ends with Brazil requiring all drug products to be serialized by mid-December of next year.
The year 2017 is anchored by the DSCSA requirement from the United States. All drug products selling in the United States have to be serialized by November, 2017. In 2019 all of the EU countries will enter the global serialization group. All products shipping to the EU will need to be serialized in early 2019.
